Area X Agency on Aging/Hill County Council on Aging, is dedicated to promoting the general welfare of senior citizens, in seeking out ways to enrich their lives. A variety of services are available to meet the needs of our aging population.

IN-HOME SERVICES:

Who’s eligible?
Individuals who are 60 years and over, or disabled. These individuals are referred to the agency by a physician.

Services Available:
Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, medication setup and monitoring, homemaking, shopping, escorts,
meal preparation, laundry, case management, etc.

CONGREGATE MEALS:

These meals are served daily at the Havre and Rudyard Senior Centers, except during the holidays. Gildford has a nutrition site located at the Baptist Church, which serves on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Meals are 1/3 of the daily food requirements. Some special diet requests are honored, but need to be approved by the head cook.

HOME DELIVERED MEALS:

Who’s eligible?
Individuals who are home bound, and 60 years and over (and their spouse, regardless of age). Others may qualify under specific services.

Services Available:
Meals are delivered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Extra meals may be ordered for Wednesday, weekends, and Holidays. Meals are 1/3 of the daily food requirements. Some special diet requests are honored, but need to be approved by the head cook.

TRANSPORTATION:

Who’s eligible?
Individuals who are 60 years and over (and their spouse, regardless of age), or those disabled.

Services Available:
Transportation is available to and from scheduled outings. Trips are scheduled to Great Falls once a month. For individuals in need of special assistance, or wheelchair bound, a van is available upon request.

*A Disabled American Veterans Van is available to transport qualified veterans and qualifying spouses, for medical treatment. A schedule is posted monthly with dates and times of departure from the Havre Senior Center to Great Falls, or Fort Harrison.

RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM (RSVP):

Who’s eligible?
Individuals who are 55 years or older.

Benefits:
Seniors remain active and involved in their community. This is a rewarding way of offering their talents to the community. Seniors have their choice of volunteer hours. These opportunities may be for a nonprofit organization, or for a community event. Annual RSVP Recognition Dinner for volunteers.

SENIOR CENTER ACTIVITIES:

Who’s eligible?
Individuals who are 60 years and older, as well as their spouse.

Benefits:
Individuals will receive a monthly newsletter and calendar of events.
Blood Pressure checks are done monthly.
Special speakers and presentations are scheduled throughout the months, as well as special trips.

Weekly Activities:
The Havre Senior Center provides nutrition dinners, bingo, bowling, pool, pinochle, bridge, dancing, quilting, and other scheduled events.

Assistance Available:
* Home Owner and Renter Credit
* Medicare questions and concerns (AIMS)
* Medicaid Applications
* Tax Assistance
* Insurance assistance with Medicare paperwork and Supplemental Insurance (SHIP)
* Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP).
* Additional services and forms are available, depending on need.
